Each day we provide legal services on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our community who have nowhere else to turn for help: children, parents, seniors, people with disabilities and the impoverished who have problems in the areas of special education, social security disability, guardianship, civil rights, tenants’ rights, family law and many other legal problems.Read More
We have collected websites that provide legal information and materials (including laws, bills, court opinions, and related documents) and/or links to legal material for both the local Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Naples area as well as the State of Florida at large. Most of these sites are freely available to all users with Internet access. This list does not include material that is available on LexisNexis and Westlaw.Read More
Trail and Sommer Legal Services P.A. was created to provide essential legal services for disabled children and troubled youth. We have each helped hundreds of parents and children understand what the school district is offering or providing and what educational services are supported by the laws. We also assist families defending themselves from arbitrary and harmful disciplinary sanctions.
We counsel parents about their rights under federal laws such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. We also counsel parents on the corresponding Florida laws related to education, and state statutes such as the Baker Act and the McKay Scholarship.
We work closely with a variety of local nonprofits, community agencies and government offices and our goal is to provide comprehensive legal services for our clients. We both come from a public service and legal aid background and we are committed to the ideals of community service, justice and equality for our clients.
While our focus is on education and youth issues, we also help our clients with a diverse variety of legal problems. Please see our practice areas.
Our firm is committed to providing affordable legal services for those in need. Our hourly fees range from $25 to $300 and are based on our clients’ income and family size. We charge on a sliding scale using the federal poverty guidelines as a base and we use payment plans for those clients that require them.
Our initial 30 minute consultation is free of charge.
